White spots on windows
Quick answer: White spots on windows are mineral deposits (mostly calcium and magnesium) left behind when sprinkler, well or reclaimed water dries on the glass. They're most common on the lower panes facing a lawn. Normal cleaning won't remove them; a mineral-removal restoration compound will, as long as they haven't etched the glass. Call or text 772-243-1234 to have a pane tested.
What the white spots are
Every time irrigation water hits a window and dries, the water evaporates and the dissolved minerals stay. On the Treasure Coast, irrigation is often well or reclaimed water, both of which carry more minerals than drinking water. After a few months of daily sprinkler cycles, the spots build into a white haze that's chemically bonded to the glass.
Why they don't wash off
Window cleaning solution and a squeegee remove dirt sitting on top of the glass. Mineral deposits are bonded to the surface. Scrubbing harder just polishes the haze. Vinegar can lighten very fresh spotting but does nothing for deposits that have been there a while, and it can damage frames and seals.
How we remove them
A mineral-removal restoration compound worked into the glass with a pad, then rinsed and squeegeed, pane by pane. We test one window first so you can see the result and we can tell you whether the rest will come out the same. Light and moderate spotting comes off completely; heavy spotting that's been there for years may have etched the glass and can be improved but not fully reversed.
Keeping them from coming back
Adjust sprinkler heads so they don't hit the glass, or have your irrigation company install low-angle nozzles near the house. Put the exterior glass on a recurring schedule so new deposits never get time to bond.

Are white spots on windows permanent?
Not usually. If they haven't etched the glass they come off completely with restoration compound. If they've been there for years they may have etched the surface, which can be improved but not fully reversed.
Will CLR or vinegar remove white spots on windows?
Rarely on established deposits, and both can damage frames, seals and any film on the glass. Restoration compound is safer and works.
How do I get a price to remove white spots?
Hard water work is quoted on site after testing a pane. Call or text 772-243-1234 to set it up.
